Hosts, Not Agents

A small team from the atolls. We offer the villas we'd choose ourselves and host every guest in person.

“A good host is mostly timing: when to bring the boat round, when to set the table, and when to disappear.”

Meridian began in 2017 with one villa and one boat. Today we host on 24 islands, and still meet every guest at the jetty.

Each stay comes with a host who lives on the island. They plan the days with you, handle boats and meals, and otherwise stay out of the way.

What you can count on

Three things we do on every stay, whichever island you choose.

Local Knowledge

Our hosts were raised here. They read the water, know the boat crews by name and can tell you which reef is worth the trip today.

Villas We've Slept In

Someone from our team stays in every villa before we offer it, and goes back each season.

Work Stays Local

  • A smiling woman with long dark hair in soft natural light
  • A smiling woman in a wide straw sun hat
  • A smiling woman wrapped in a striped beach towel on the sand
  • A smiling couple embracing by the sea
  • A smiling man in a white T-shirt with the beach behind him

Boat crews, cooks and guides are hired from the nearest inhabited island.

How Meridian Started

It started with a day off. A guest asked Ilyas where he would go himself, and his answer became the first Meridian escape.

What we do:
Make remote islands simple to reach and unhurried once you're there, with a local host looking after the details.
Where we're headed:
More islands hosted by the families who live nearest them, and reefs in better shape than we found them.
