Sandbank Sunset
Overview
The sandbar is about the size of a tennis court and under water for half the day. We leave when the tide table says it will be dry at sunset, anchor off its edge and wade the last few metres. There is nothing on it but your party, a rug and a cool box.
Your Evening
- 16:45 — Dhoni collects you from your jetty
- 17:10 — Sails up and engine off across the inner lagoon
- 17:50 — Wade ashore to drinks and snacks laid out on the sand
- 18:15 — Sunset, give or take a few minutes through the year
- 19:00 — Lanterns lit for the sail home

Good to Know
Departure moves by up to an hour with the tide, and your host confirms it that morning. Expect to get wet to the knee going ashore. Drinks and snacks are included; dinner is back at your villa.
FAQ
How do I get from the airport to my island?
Your host meets you in the arrivals hall at Malé and walks you to the seaplane or speedboat. Seaplanes fly in daylight only, so if you land after about 3:30 pm we book you a night near the airport first.
When is the best time of year to come?
December to April is driest and calmest. May to November brings more rain and wind, along with lower prices and the manta ray season. Our journal has a month-by-month guide.
Can you cater for allergies and dietary needs?
Yes. Tell us when you enquire and your host will plan the menus with the cook before you arrive. Vegetarian, vegan, halal and gluten-free are all routine.
Is there Wi-Fi and phone signal?
Every villa has Wi-Fi that is good enough for calls and streaming. Mobile signal is reliable on the islands and patchy on the boats between them.
What if I need to cancel or move my dates?
You can cancel free of charge up to 30 days before arrival, and move your dates once at no cost up to 14 days before. The full terms are on our Terms of Service page.
