What we hold

  • What you send us. Your name, email address, phone number, travel dates, party size and anything you write in an enquiry or message to a host.
  • What a stay requires. Passport details for seaplane manifests, and dietary or medical notes you choose to share so we can host you safely.
  • What our website records. Pages visited, approximate location and device type, collected in aggregate so we can see which pages are useful.

We do not receive or store card numbers. Payments are taken by a payment processor, which sends us only a confirmation.

Why we hold it

We use your details to answer your enquiry, arrange your stay and contact you about it. If you join our newsletter we use your email address to send it, and for nothing else. We do not sell personal data or pass it to advertisers.

Who else sees it

Arranging a stay means sharing some details with others:

  • The villa and your host receive your names, dates and any notes relevant to looking after you.
  • Seaplane and boat operators receive the passenger details they are legally required to collect.
  • Companies that host our website and deliver our email process data on our instructions.

Some of these are outside your home country. Where that is so, we share only what the booking requires.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become bookings are deleted after 12 months. Booking records are kept for seven years, because tax law requires it. You can leave the newsletter at any time using the link in each email.

Cookies

The site sets a small number of cookies that it needs in order to work, and uses analytics that count visits without building a profile of you. You can block cookies in your browser and the site will still function.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. We will reply within 30 days. We may need to keep some booking records where the law requires it, and we will tell you if that applies.

Children

We collect details about children only as part of a booking made by a parent or guardian.
